Vladimir Putin announced on Tuesday morning that Russia has registered the world's first vaccine against corona-virus. He says the vaccine is effective in forming immunity against the deadly pathogen which has spread globally.

“As far as i do know , a vaccine against the corona-virus infection has been registered this morning (in Russia) for the primary time within the world,” the President told members of the govt . “I thank everyone who worked on the vaccine - it’s a really important moment for the entire world.

Putin insisted that vaccination in Russia should only be administered on a voluntary basis, with nobody forced to simply accept immunization. He also revealed that one among his daughters has already been vaccinated.

With over 700,000 deaths attributed to the pandemic and over 20 million official cases internationally, the whole planet is crying out for an answer to the Covid-19 crisis. it's hoped the Russian vaccine will enter general circulation by January. within the meantime, front-line doctors and therefore the medically vulnerable are going to be given priority, consistent with the Health Ministry.

Putin asked Health Minister Mikhail Murashko to supply more detailed information about the plans for immunization. "I know that it works rather effectively, forms a stable immunity, and, I repeat, it passed all the required inspections," the President added.

Last week, the Health Minister himself stated that initial clinical trials of the vaccine developed by the Gamelei research facility in Moscow had been completed.

Putin said that his daughter had a small temperature after participating in trials, but that it quickly went away. "One of my daughters got the vaccine. during this sense, she took part within the experiment. After the primary vaccination, she had a temperature of 38, subsequent day - 37 which was all."

Russia's determination to develop a vaccine was prompted by the devastating effect Covid-19 has had on the country. It has the fourth highest amount of cases on the planet - after the US, Brazil and India - with 179,293 still active.
