👉 In October, 2015 KP Sharma oli became Prime Minister of nepal with the help of India’s tacit support. At that time the Madhesis were protesting against the country's new constitution. The agitation by Indian-Origin Madhesis community was perceived by Nepal's Communists. The subsequent blockade of food and fuel trucks to the landlocked nation was also seen by the Oli government with help of India. In 2016 after becoming PM KP Sharma Oli visted china and signed over a dozen pacts, including transit and transport agreements. He ignored India, and New Delhi's considerable influence on the small Himalayan nation has been on the wane ever since. Later in 2016, Oli again blamed India for pulling the rug from under his government by forcing the Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist Centre) led by Pushpa Kamal Dahal (Prachanda) to withdraw support to his government by ‘’remote control.’’

👉 After in 2017, Prachanda went back to support Oli government, as both the parties Communist Party of Nepal(United Marxist Leninist) and Communist Party of Nepal(Maoists Centre) joined hands to form the Nepal Communist Party with 2/3rd majority in parliament. The current crisis thus has been five years in the making, with event after event showing how China is gaining diplomatic advantage ceded by India.

👉 The chain of events in the last two months should therefore not surprise anyone. Recently Nepal passed a Constitution Amendment bill to redraw its political map to include territories that belong to India as its own- Lipulekh, Kalapani, Limpiadhuria on Uttarakhand Border with Nepal. Meanwhile, in an interview to the Nepal government-owned The Rising Nepal published on Tuesday, Chinese Ambassador to Nepal Hou Yanqi criticised remarks made by Indian Army Chief Gen M M Naravane that the anti-India protests in Nepal over border issues might be “at the behest of China”.

👉 Two days after Nepal Prime Minister K P Sharma Oli claimed that India was trying to topple his government with support from some politicians at home, party leaders, including three former prime ministers, Tuesday asked him to prove his allegations or quit. Speaking at a closed-door standing committee meeting of the ruling Nepal Communist Party, Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda, Madhav Kumar Nepal and Jhalnath Khanal, as well as former deputy PM Bamdeb Gautam, demanded that Oli resign, having failed on every count. Prachanda said at the outset that Oli’s allegation against India was wrong. “Not India, it is me who is demanding your resignation. You must furnish proof of such irresponsible remarks,” Dahal is believed to have said.

👉 While facing the Party revolt by Nepal PM, the Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan has decided to extend his support to Nepal PM KP Sharma Oli who is finding himself increasingly isolated within the ruling Nepal Communist Party after blaming India for a rebellion in his party, people familiar with the development told Hindustan Times. The Support From Pakistan's PM comes at a time Xi Jinping’s China is engaged in a standoff with India over Ladakh. The two prime ministers also owe a huge debt to China for projects that critics say, largely serve Beijing’s interests. “China is their common link,” a Kathmandu watcher said. On the domestic front, PM Oli’s move to come out with a redraw his country’s political map and whip up ultra-nationalistic sentiments was an attempt to consolidate his support within the party.
